Art Club has begun!

Art club has begun once again at Ginter Park Elementary School. Students are working hard on their collages inspired by African American woman artist, Howardena Pindell. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) https://www.vmfa.museum/ has an excellent exhibition currently of her works of art.

Welcome to Art-School Year 2018-2019

Art has begun and each Ginter Park student has been creating a feather. On top of the feather it reads, "Ginter Park Elementary is important because....". Students thought about and wrote why our school is important to them. After completing the feathers they will be transformed into a pair of wings.

4th Grade Working on their Accordion Style Books

Art Enhances and Builds Upon other Subjects at Ginter Park

Ginter Park Elementary students are working on a variety of interdisciplinary art units. Kindergarten art students are using math shapes to create artistic pizzas. First grade students are using math shapes to create snowmen. Second grade art students are printmaking by creating stamps with geometric shapes. Third grade students are learning about architecture through creating imaginary watercolor paintings inspired by Austrian artist, Hundertwasser. Fourth grade art students are finishing up their accordion styles books which they used to write poems inside about themselves. And finally, fifth grade art students are creating abstract style paintings using plant and animal cell structures. Our students understand they can use art to enhance and build upon other classroom subjects!
